East Texas Open

TOURNAMENT RULES

 

1. The participants in the East Texas Open must be a member of the USBC. The tournament shall consist of four-member team, doubles, singles, and handicap all-events. Singles may only be bowled once and No singles only entries permitted; singles must be bowled in conjunction with a doubles entry and shall be bowled with paid doubles of tournament (if multiple doubles with same paid entry, shall be bowled with designated all-events pairing). The tournament will be bowled with doubles first; then singles. Bowlers will not change lanes between doubles and singles. There shall be 10 minutes practice prior to team and doubles events only.

2.     Team, Doubles, Singles and All-Events will be on a handicap basis. Optional Scratch events available see rule 12 & 13 below.  Handicap will be based on 80% of the difference in each bowler’s average and 220.  Averages to be used will be the highest book average for the 2008 - 2009 or 2009 – 2010 season.  Bowlers who do not have a book average may use their highest 21 game league average as of the previous weeks. In case of multiple entries this will be the week prior to the first week of bowler’s participation.  (Average verification must be provided prior to competition or bowler must bowl scratch).  If a bowler does not have a legal average, he or she may enter the tournament with a scratch average of 220.   Only USBC certified averages may be used (Highest book average shall be used without regards to membership affiliation).  It shall be the bowler’s responsibility to provide average verification information.  Please provide a copy of book average (if other than Dallas Associations) with entry to expedite average verifications. The 10-pin rule is not in effect for this tournament.

3.   The Tournament Director reserves the right to re-rate any average before the time the bowler participates in the tournament.

USBC RULE 319C WILL APPLY TO ALL PARTICIPANTS FOR RE-RATING REQUIREMENTS. USBC RULE 319E CONCERNING AVERAGE ADJUSTMENTS WILL APPLY TO ALL ENTRANTS, BOTH MEN AND WOMEN. Rule 319-D shall not be enforced, no winnings verification will be required..

4.   It shall be each bowler’s responsibility to verify the accuracy of his or her average whether submitted by the bowler, the team captain or others.  Failure to use the correct average will disqualify their score if submitted average is lower than actual average.  If the submitted average is higher than required, prize winnings shall be based on the submitted average.  USBC RULE 319A-3

5.  Entrants may bowl more than once in Team event, subject to the following conditions:

A.     No more than (2) two players may compete on the same team more than once.

B.     A bowler participating more than once in the team event will count his highest team score for All-Events.

C.    A bowler may only enter team (3) times

6.  Entrants may bowl more than once in Doubles event, subject to the following conditions:

A.     Multiple entrants must have a change in doubles partner.

B.     A bowler participating more than once in the Doubles event must count his highest doubles score for All- Events.

C.       Doubles must be bowled during doubles squads only.

D.       A bowler may only enter doubles (3) times.

7.    No changes in original line-up for TEAM and DOUBLES.

8.   If entry for SINGLES and DOUBLES is not completed, the DOUBLES pairings will be carried over from the TEAM line-up. (i.e. Bowler 1 with  Bowler 2 and so forth)

9.   The prize ratio for handicap events will be at least one for 10 in Team, Doubles, Singles and one for 15 for All-Events.

10.           Team Captains must check their teams 30 minutes before the scheduled time of bowling.

11.  A substitute shall not participate in the "ALL-EVENTS" prize money, unless they bowled all three (3) events as a substitute for the same person.

12.           Events shall have an optional scratch entry available dependent on entry in that handicap event.  Bowler must bowl handicap event to be eligible to bowl in the scratch event. See rule 13 below for fees.

13.  Entry fee into scratch singles, doubles, team and all-events shall be $10 per bowler.  Monies shall be distributed based on $8 for prize fund and $2 expenses. (Totals of $40 for team, $20 for doubles, $10 for singles and all events).   Prize fun

      based on at least 1 for 15.

14.  The tournament prize fund shall be returned in Handicap and scratch events shall be returned 100% and cash only. (No trophies shall be awarded)

15.  Squads may be cancelled or added by tournament management based on participation.

16.  All tournament fees must be paid in full before deadline or entry may be forfeited. All fees must be paid by cash, money order or cashiers check.  Personal checks will not be accepted unless approved by the tournament director in advance and any entries containing checks that have not been approved will be returned for proper payment.  Incomplete entries will be returned to the team captain.

17.  RESERVE ENTRY RULE:  Reservations will be accepted.  Entry fees for reservations must be received before June 5, 2010.  After this date all entries are on a first come basis and reserved entries not received by June 5th may lose first choice for all requested dates and times.

18.  Tournament entry deadline shall be June 5, 2010.  Confirmations will be mailed by June 26, 2010.

19.  LATE ENTRY AND WALK-IN ENTRY RULE: Late entries will be accepted until June 26, 2010 and shall cost $24 per event. Walk-in entries will be accepted at the tournament based on lane availability and tournament manager’s discretion. Entry fee for walk-ins shall be $26. Additional fees shall go to expenses. Walk-In entries will not be accepted after 30 minutes prior to squad start time.

20.  There will be one 900 Global bowling ball given away during each team squad. Only bowlers whose entry is postmarked by the June 5, 2010 entry deadline shall be eligible. One ball per bowler.

21. In addition to the above, USBC RULES WILL GOVERN.

 

 

If 2009-2010 average is not known at time entry is to be mailed. The entry form should be mailed with 2008-2009 average listed. Tournament management will confirm correct average from Bowl.com. If 2009-2010 average is found to be higher, then average will be corrected.
